The Power of Social Spending - Giving Gifts That Give Back
November 24, 2017With Black Friday (aka Green Friday for us :D) and Cyber Monday in the air, I've been reflecting a bit on modern commerce and the power of the people to contribute to positive causes based on the products we buy.
We're a social enterprise, this was primary vision even before we even came up with a name - Tree Tribe is an eco vehicle used as a medium to give back to the Earth.
Some of the earlier pioneers like Toms and Patagonia paved the way for this movement of brands giving back on every sale, and now we're seeing it more and more in today's marketplace.
This is a good thing!
You could argue that modern humans consume too much, but we try to look at it in a sense of acknowledgement - that we live in a time where we buy stuff left and right, and that's not going to change any time soon... but we have the option to put on our optimization glasses and say hey, what if we were able to make products that are friendly to the environment, and also help the world every time a transaction takes place?
That's where we're at, and that's what we support. We love seeing other companies that are down with giving back in any way.
I'd love to see this trend continue, and while you're here, how about a fun thought experiment:
Imagine if every company in the world gave back a piece of their revenue to make a positive impact in the world?
WHOA! Ya that's a pretty cool world right?
Not only does giving back improve the lives of the benefactors, it also spreads a message of positive energy that giving is good, and we are all on this beautiful planet together.
Part of our mission at Tree Tribe is to inspire other companies to give back, and inspire other entrepreneurs to integrate a social cause into their business model.
It's one of my (Joe) personal goals to help more people start social enterprises - I've given a few talks on the topics, and am always willing to help with any advice for aspiring social entrepreneurs.
I believe that by having more companies that give back in the world, it builds momentum of a positive vibes avalanche that can make our world cleaner, more peaceful, and more fun and friendly :)
Because of our social mission and dedication to eco friendly products, we've been getting featured on some cool holiday gift lists and want to thank some of the great people and organizations that celebrate in our like minded vision to spread positive vibes through the products we create:
Heroes of the Holiday Gift Guide
Two Wandering Soles shared a list of Eco Friendly Products for Responsible Travelers.
Born to be Adventurous made a Holiday Gift Guide for the Outdoor Family.
Drivin' and Vibin' included us in their Gifts for the RV Life guide - they're all about living minimally and traveling, 2 values we're all about!
I Read Labels For You included us in their Non Toxic Holiday Gift Ideas list.
Face the Current created a guide for the conscious consumer, a selection of products by brands that are committed to inspiring and activating positive change in the world.

Trees for the Future gave us the nod in their Gifts for Good, also celebrating companies that give back by planting trees.
As a community driven brand, we are suuuuuper grateful to meet other organizations and people that vibe with the idea of creating with purpose and giving back, and thanks everyone for spreading the message about conscisous consumption.
By the way, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)
