Where Your Trees Are Planted Part 4 - American Forests
November 16, 2016We're now working with American Forests to plant more trees in the USA! They’ve completed reforestation projects in all 50 U.S. states and nearly 50 countries... Epic!
Did you know that over half of U.S. drinking water originates in forests? Did you also know that one tree alone can filter up to 36,500 gallons of water per year?
Ya forests are AWESOME! That’s one of the reasons we're working with American Forests, who's mission is to protect and restore our forests. We also love that they are involved in urban forestry.
American Forests Six Core Beliefs
- Forest are essential to life on earth.
- We are not separate from nature. By caring for nature, we care for ourselves.
- Resilient forests slow the effects of climate change, provide more abundant drinking water and improve air quality.
- Eighty percent of land-based biodiversity is in forests. Healthy, functioning forests protect these animal species from extinction and other grave threats.
- In the U.S. and around the world, the health of our forests is threatened by climate change, invasive species, insects and the destruction of forests for development or conversion to agricultural uses.
- Forests recover slowly, so the time to act is now.
