Leaf leather is an innovative plant based leather alternative made from tree leaves. It's better than traditional leather because it's more environmentally friendly and created from trees so it doesn't require harming animals. It can also be made just as strong and durable as animal leather, and even water resistant like our own Tree Tribe Leaf Leather. Every plant has a story
We just launched a few new styles, and these are some of our new favorites! We're constantly testing different types of wood and frame shapes for durability and style, and are really stoked to introduce our highest quality models yet! These are actually the best quality wood sunglasses we've seen.
I want to introduce a Friend of the Tribe - Flying Squirrel Outfitters. They make high quality, uniquely designed, hand-made hammocks in Northern Thailand. On top of that, they work to create sustainable social change by empowering women in the local hill tribes they work with - each hammock is meticulously crafted by skilled seamstresses, where they earn a high living wage working at home, with no set working hours.
The Appalachian Trail (aka the AT), is a 2,200 mile long hiking trail in the Eastern US from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It's also known as the longest hiking trail in the world! Justin Cave, a friend of the Tribe, set out earlier this year to hike the full trail, what an EPIC ADVENTURE!
We recently started a collaboration with Change Co., a startup that offers a quarterly subscription box to introduce others to modern socially conscious products made by companies that are striving to create positive and lasting change. They donate to charity too. Nice! We love connecting with other socially conscious brands and sharing their story, so I caught up with the cofounder Lydia to hear her story first hand:
This is a guest post by Sam Kenworthy, the Permaculture Manager at CIRENAS CIRENAS (Centro de Investigaciones de Recursos Naturales y Sociales) and Tree Tribe started a unique collaboration roughly six months ago when I got in touch with Joe Lannen, founder of Tree Tribe, simply because of their business model that included planting trees based on sales.
Atlantic Endeavour (above) is made up of four young women who share a common interest in conquering a huge challenge. United by a passion for adventure, and surviving in extreme conditions, they broke a world record to be the first womens’ four to row the Atlantic and cross the finish line in English Harbour in early 2017. "More people by far have climbed Everest or been into space than have successfully rowed the Atlantic, and it is considered to be one of the toughest challenges on the planet."
Happy Earth Day everyone! Join us in celebration by simply going for a hike or chillin with friends outside in nature :) We love Earth Day everyday - our whole mission revolves around making a positive impact on the Earth by promoting and using eco friendly materials, and planting trees every single day through our customer sales.
Two years ago, Pete and Tay skipped class for nine months to backpack Southeast Asia. This is where they realized how naturally suited they were to the nomadic lifestyle. Collecting memories, immersing themselves in new cultures, and making lifelong friends on the road became second nature. So after graduating college, they decided to stray away from the conventional path and buy a sprinter van, convert it into a mobile home and travel wherever roads take them. And they strive to continually live life that way: Two people driven by curiosity, pursuing the unknown like the mavericks they are. Here's there story:
WHOOOA! We're at 75,000+ TREES PLANTED!!! And we're stoked to round the corner to 100,000 trees planted, a major milestone in our history as a small company trying to make a positive impact in the world!
