Sharing our journey + stories about Nature, Adventure, Travel, and Community. If you're an adventurer and want to contribute, give us a shout!
With Black Friday (aka Green Friday for us :D) and Cyber Monday in the air, I've been reflecting a bit on modern commerce and the power of the people to contribute to positive causes based on the products we buy.
We're a social enterprise, this was primary vision even before we even came up with a name - Tree Tribe is an eco vehicle used as a medium to give back to the Earth.
These custom engraved cases ^^^ are from Reggie - he wanted to get a cool custom gift for his groomsmen... we delivered with bamboo sunglasses and custom engraved cases!
"I wanted to thank you again for your help with getting the cases for my groomsmen engraved. They loved them!!!
Cheers,
Reggie"
We also do corporate gifts, limited edition collaborations, and cobranding. We're all about community and try to accommodate your ideas as best we can.
^^^ That's a beautiful ocean! Let's keep it that way :)
This is a quick thought on preventing extra trash and promoting awareness with monthly challenges - using the power of habit to make a positive change in our environment.
We just launched a few new styles, and these are some of our new favorites! We're constantly testing different types of wood and frame shapes for durability and style, and are really stoked to introduce our highest quality models yet! These are actually the best quality wood sunglasses we've seen.
I want to introduce a Friend of the Tribe - Flying Squirrel Outfitters. They make high quality, uniquely designed, hand-made hammocks in Northern Thailand.
On top of that, they work to create sustainable social change by empowering women in the local hill tribes they work with - each hammock is meticulously crafted by skilled seamstresses, where they earn a high living wage working at home, with no set working hours.
The Appalachian Trail (aka the AT), is a 2,200 mile long hiking trail in the Eastern US from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It's also known as the longest hiking trail in the world!
Justin Cave, a friend of the Tribe, set out earlier this year to hike the full trail, what an EPIC ADVENTURE!
We recently started a collaboration with Change Co., a startup that offers a quarterly subscription box to introduce others to modern socially conscious products made by companies that are striving to create positive and lasting change.
They donate to charity too. Nice!
We love connecting with other socially conscious brands and sharing their story, so I caught up with the cofounder Lydia to hear her story first hand:
This is a guest post by Sam Kenworthy, the Permaculture Manager at CIRENAS
CIRENAS (Centro de Investigaciones de Recursos Naturales y Sociales) and Tree Tribe started a unique collaboration roughly six months ago when I got in touch with Joe Lannen, founder of Tree Tribe, simply because of their business model that included planting trees based on sales.
Atlantic Endeavour (above) is made up of four young women who share a common interest in conquering a huge challenge. United by a passion for adventure, and surviving in extreme conditions, they broke a world record to be the first womens’ four to row the Atlantic and cross the finish line in English Harbour in early 2017.
"More people by far have climbed Everest or been into space than have successfully rowed the Atlantic, and it is considered to be one of the toughest challenges on the planet."
