It's something you never really pay any attention to: you order a soda or a milk shake, or even just a water and the waiter always lays something next to the glass - a straw. While we all know that plastic straws are seriously damaging our planet (think 500 MILLION plastic straws used per day, most ending up in landfills*), we don't always talk about the alternatives to being able to use your straw...in a sustainable way. 🌱
When we first decided to launch sustainable straws, we though: bamboo. Why? Bamboo rapidly reproduces, actually capable of growing 4ft per day*! It's a material that's been used for countless reasons for centuries and is often turned to due to how quickly it can regrow - hence, sustainable. Eco and Beyond reports that "compared to an equivalent tree mass, bamboo produces35% more oxygen and research has shown that bamboo can absorb as much as12 tonnes of carbon dioxide per hectare per year.*"
After doing some homework, and we knew we had the logistics down, we worked with our suppliers to create a branded eco-friendly package of pure bamboo straws, complete with a travel case so that the next time your waiter asks if you need a (plastic) straw, you can politely decline.
Why buy into our bamboo straws?
