Trees for the Future has planted over 155 million trees since 1989. Nice!
We've been working together for 3 years, since Tree Tribe started. August is their birthday month and we want to say thank you and happy birthday!
Some cool facts about Trees for the Future:
- Trees for the Future has 3 main objectives, they call it the Triple Bottom Line: ending hunger, ending poverty, and ending deforestation.
- They focus on planting "forest gardens" - sustainable plots of land that provide food, resources, and rejuvenation to the local ecosystem.
- They've planted trees all over the world.
- The current area of focus is Africa, where this type of restorative planting provides huge benefits to Earth + Community.
- Some popular fruit trees planted: mango, avocado, cashew, banana, citrus and papaya trees.
- The trees are diverse. For example, planting a "living" fence is a key feature in the forest garden - it forms a protective barrier of trees and shrubs.
- The forest gardens are designed to sustain without the use of pesticides. They also use the method of permaculture, rather than monoculture, yielding year long growth without depleting the soil.
- Trees for the Future has planted over 6 million trees this year!
Working to end extreme poverty.
Nearly a billion people live in extreme poverty and earn less than $1/day.
Many are subsistence farmers whose farming practices have led to the deforestation of their land and the degradation of the their local – and the global – environment.
The forest gardens Trees for the Future plants help by providing a sustainable source of food, resources, and additional ways to earn a living - a total rejuvenation of trees, plants, animals, and communities.
Trees are the focus, but we also celebrate the depths of benefits that Trees for the Future provides for our planet.
Through our partnership with Trees for the Future, any time you buy Tree Tribe Sunglasses, Clothing, or Reusable Bags you're also planting a tree. We donate every quarter based on our product sales, equal to 1 tree per sale.
